width=&#8221;1\/2&#8243; css=&#8221;.vc_custom_1620375876551{padding-right: 35px !important;padding-bottom: 35px !important;padding-left: 35px !important;}&#8221; el_class=&#8221;columna3&#8243;][vc_column_text]\r\n        <strong>\r\n            About the workshop        <\/strong>\r\n\r\n    <br><br>\r\n<p><strong>Admission: 16 years and over<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CARCA\u00c7A<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, <\/span><b>Marco da Silva Ferreira<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> uses dance as a tool to research communities, the construction of collective identity, memory, and the concept of cultural crystallisation.<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The choreography, which initially starts with jumping footwork as an agitator and accelerator, progressively leads a vibrant, rebellious and carnivalesque body towards resilience and togetherness. This research originated in 2020 with the dance piece <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CORPOS DE BAILE<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> at the Companhia Nacional de Bailado.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A cast of 10 performers form a collective, researching their collective identity in a physical, intuitive and unpretentious flow of the body, dance and cultural construction. They start from familiar footwork, coming from clubbing, balls, cypher battles and the studio to approach standardised and immutable folk dances related to their heritage. <\/span>These dances from the past have been crystallised and were not able to integrate new definitions of bodies, groups and communities that were considered minor at the time. It is necessary to break with the authoritarian, totalitarian, and paternalistic past<span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. In <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">CARCA\u00c7A<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, an exercise that integrates the past and the present is proposed. Thinking about: How do we decide to forget and to make memories? What is the role of individual identities in building a community? What is the driving force of an identity? What world is the individual and collective body going through? Or, rather, what bodies are crossing the world?\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The steps, complex but made with simple sneakers, will bring not only the sound to the stage, but also the exchanges between kinetic, thermal, and light energy. The physical sounds are accompanied by drums played by <\/span><b>Jo\u00e3o Pais Filipe<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and electronic music by <\/span><b>Luis Pestana<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. He never went into this line of work but it led him to focus on Health Sciences. His dedication to body practice began in 1996 through sport, specifically high-performance swimming. In 2002, he abandoned swimming to give way to body practice in the performing arts. His path was self-taught, focusing on dance styles that emerged within an urban context and featured afro-descendant influences. Between 2002 and 2010, the focus and vocabulary of his dancing became increasingly diverse and closer to contemporary improvisation tools and composition. In 2010, he won the TV contest <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So You Think You Can Dance<\/span><\/i> <i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8211; Portugal.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">A professional performer since 2008, he has danced for Andr\u00e9 Mesquita, Hofesh Shechter, Sylvia Rijmer, Tiago Guedes, Victor Hugo Pontes and Paulo Ribeiro, among others. His performance <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HU(R)MANO<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2013) earned him a place among the Aerowaves Priority Companies (2015) and was performed on a national and international level until 2018. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">BROTHER<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2016) started a conversation on dance and its meaning today, exploring its origins while at the same time connecting the art form to the contemporary body. It premiered at the Teatro Municipal do Porto-Rivoli and has toured extensively internationally and nationally, receiving another place at Aerowaves Priority Companies (2018). <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bisonte<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2019) is a performance on identity that strikes a balance between rage and melancholy, playing with gender masks, power dynamics and vulnerability. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">SIRI<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (2021), a sci-fi dance piece produced in collaboration with Portuguese filmmaker Jorge J\u00e1come was realised within the framework of the Foundation d\u2019Entreprise H\u00e9rmes \u2014 New Setting Program.
